      <image:title>About - Hi, I’m Maya!</image:title>
<image:caption>I’m a self taught artist and a full time corporate pilot. I believe that art, like aviation, brings people together. I love that I get to play a part in bringing community and beauty to people’s lives! Many of my paintings are inspired by my travels or commission requests from my clients. I hand mix all the different shades and tints you’ll see through out my paintings using only primary colors and black or white — I try to stay away from pre-mixed hues as much as possible. In my free time I enjoy traveling with my amazing husband, hiking, reading, and drinking mimosas and craft beer! I never thought that I would be able to create a business with my artwork — I am beyond grateful to be on this journey!</image:caption>

I loved the smell of the fresh rain on the forest floor, the sound of water dripping off of pine needles, and the songs of birds echoing through the misty trees. This painting embodies the calming feeling of the forest that was so refreshing for my soul. Original painting: SOLD Prints unavailable at this time</image:caption>

<image:caption>Behind the Art Some of my fondest childhood memories are from the weekend ski trips my family would take. This particular view from Copper Mountain took my breath away more times than I can count. There’s something so humbling about gazing over the mountains and realizing how small you truly are. In this painting I tried to capture the essence of a sunny, smile-filled ski day. Original Painting: SOLD Contact me to order a print!</image:caption>

Fall is one of my favorite seasons, it always reminds me of starting over fresh. The trees shed what’s weighing them down, take time become stronger over the winter, and then come back even more beautiful every spring. This painting captures the happiness and satisfaction I feel on a crisp fall day, when I’m with the people I love, watching the sun fade away after a well spent day. <image:caption>Behind the Art One of the best things about living in the Midwest in the summer time is that there are endless lakes to explore. There’s just something about the wind blowing in your face and the gentle lull of the water lapping against the boat as you bathe in the sunshine. I created this painting to express the nostalgic feeling I get when I think of warm, lazy days spent smiling, laughing and relaxing on the water. When I was a child my dad would take me flying in a small plane to see the sights along the front range of the Colorado Rocky Mountains. Fast forward a few years, I majored in Flight Science in college and became a corporate pilot. This particular aircraft is one that I spent many hours flying during my training in college. Creating this painting was very special and personal to me. I’m so happy I get to share the freedom and happiness that flying has brought me with you! I was touched that my client wanted to give her father such a thoughtful gift, and I loved that I got to be part of commemorating his career in such a special way! My client and I communicated back and forth several times to get the angle of the plane exactly as she envisioned it, it’s important to me that my clients get exactly what they ask for! The most challenging part of this painting for me was capturing the essence of Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam, which happens to be the headquarters of KLM! Original painting: SOLD</image:caption>

This view is from a trail called Trout Lake which looks out over Lake McDonald. I was amazed at how, several years after a big fire, there were plants and trees starting to flourish. <image:caption>Behind the Art Among the Tetons was such a fun and playful painting for me to create. I tried to embody the feeling of soaring over the mountains on a summer day with blue skies, puffy clouds, and jaw-dropping scenery. I used to go on sight seeing flights with my father when I was younger so this scene brought back tons of fond memories for me! This painting was a commission piece that one of my college friends asked me to do for a prominent customer at her flight school. I learned, while researching references for this photo, that they are also a universal symbol of peace! My client requested something reminiscent of happier times in her hometown and suggested a field with sunflowers and a blue sky. <image:caption>Behind the Art A friend of mine commissioned me to paint this sentimental piece! He asked me to include a CRJ900, a plane he flew at his previous airline job, as well as an A320, the plane he currently flies. I really enjoyed working on the small details in this painting! Getting the logos as accurate as possible by hand was a challenge, but I’m thrilled with how it turned out. Original painting: SOLD Contact me to order a print!</image:caption>

<image:caption>Behind the Art One of my fondest memories with my mom is from a hike that we took on the Colorado Trail near Kenosha Pass. I used reference photos from that hike to recreate this sentimental scene and I gifted this painting to my mom for her 60th birthday. This painting is reminiscent of everything I love about Colorado! I love the rich colors of the dry grasses and the way they contrast so beautifully with the Evergreens and Aspen trees. My soul always feels refreshed whenever I have a chance to visit the mountains. I used my photograph as a reference photo to authenticate the details I wanted to capture. This is my rendition of the foothills of Colorado near Ken Caryl Valley. <image:caption>Behind the Art My clients commissioned me to paint this insanely gorgeous rock formation from Ken Caryl Valley near Denver, Colorado. They really wanted me to focus on the layers inthe rocks and capture the essence of a deep blue Colorado sky in springtime. I had an absolute blast trying to emulate all the beauty of this stunning setting! Original painting: SOLD Contact me to order a print.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Behind the Art This painting is a commission that my client wanted specially made to give his bride on his wedding day! He asked me to paint her riding on her motorbike along the shore of this special lake with his car somewhere in the background. Sunset, in my opinion, is the most romantic time of the day, so I used muted oranges and pinks to capture the essence of a stunning Arizona sunset. Frankly, I love how this one turned out!
